Worldwide Fly Fishing Destinations

Travel Checklist

Don’t forget these important items when you plan your fly fishing adventure with Wildcat Creek Travel!

  1. Sleep aids- Ambien, anything else no matter what people say to you.
  2. Cipro or some other type of germ killing pills, get a prescription it could save your trip.
  3. Ant-Bacterial Soap
  4. Airline pillow – do not use theirs.
  5. Noise cancelling earphones. I know this seems extravagant but they have come down in price to around $40.00 and man are they nice to have in a noisy airplane. They also will double for earphones for the in-flight movies. They typically charge 5.00 for ear phones on the plane.
  6. Laptop and appropriate adaptors. Make sure you have European.
  7. Camera, you can’t believe how many people forget including me!
  8. All appropriate chargers.

Travel Tips

I am in general not a germ-a-phoebe but after my last trip not touching people is a good idea, I got sick as a dog. There are a couple of these things you need to think about.

  1. Make photo copies of all credit cards, passport/visas and identification. Keep a copy in your checked luggage and a copy in your carry on. If anything is lost like a credit card or a passport you have proof of it.
  2. Exchange clothing with the person you are travelling with. Get two pairs of their clothes and give them two pairs of your clothes and put them I your respective luggage. There is a greater chance of one person’s luggage getting lost than two person’s luggage getting lost.
  3. Do not shake hands with anyone ever If feel you must shake hands keep anti-bacterial soap handy
  4. Do not under any circumstances use the pillows on the airplane. They do not wash them and they have been slept on by many people. Get a bean bag pillow either in the airport or before you go from Target or Walmart. This is a small pillow that should fit into your carry on. This was a tip a while back from a friend who is a captain with Northwest.
  5. Make sure you find out what receptacles are in the country you are travelling to. You do not want to rely on someone else supplying a conversion plug. It is probably European and not American. You can by the adapter plugs at Radio Shack.
  6. Carry on anything you don’t want lost or stolen. Seems obvious but you can’t believe how much stuff comes up missing. I lost a really nice jacket once going through Bahamian customs back into the states.
  7. Download Skype on your iphone, phone and laptop. Surely one of them will get reception at some point. It is about 2 cents per minute and will save you a bunch of money.
  8. Check you’re phone when you land in a new country and never answer it unless you absolutely know who it is. I have had a couple of surprise charges. There is some pretty weird international stuff in cell phone service. I guarantee you will pick up a foreign service when you turn it on after landing.
