We believe this is the best value in a 10ft rod for Steelhead anyone makes. We have fished the 7 weight on Lake Erie tribs and it was perfect for nymphing and does a good job of swinging flies as well. The 8 weight is a great choice as an all around rod because it can double as a salmon rod. It is a little faster than the old A3, it is definitely an upgrade.
 
If you can't pull the trigger on a high end 10 footer this is the best value out there.
