Wildcat Creek: Indiana's Fly Fishing Outfitter
Fly Fishing Guides & Fly Shop Staff

Scott Gobel (Head Guide):
Scott had the good fortune of growing up in Crawfordsville, Indiana near Sugar Creek. He has fished Sugar Creek his whole life. Scott’s real expertise is streamer fishing and he has developed many flies for Smallmouth Bass. The rattle minnow is one of the coolest flies anyone has ever developed and it really catches fish. Scott is in demand so don’t wait too long to book for April and May... he will be on the water for 60 days in those two months.

Chad Miller (Owner):
Chad is the founder of Wildcat Creek Outfitters and has been guiding since 1996. He has developed flies like the Wildcat Creek Streamer, Sugar Creek Crawdad and Chad’s Hellgrammite. Chad, along with friend Jerry Darkes, created a video series called “Guide Patterns”. Chad’s video is called “Guide Patterns for Smallmouth Bass”. Chad’s guide schedule is very limited these days but he still likes to spend a few days a month rowing a boat. April and August are his favorite months to guide.

Eric Corya (Guide/Shop Staff)
Eric is another local guy who grew up in Lafayette and now resides in Zionsville. Eric is guiding his clients on very unique Carp trips on Lake Michigan. He has also developed a couple of must have Carp flies and has logged over 1000 Carp on a fly rod and isn’t done yet! Eric also guides on Sugar Creek and has spent years getting to know the water exceptionally well.

Dustin Tabert (Guide):
Dustin began guiding for us in 2006. He has the good fortune of growing up on the Tippecanoe River. You will be hard pressed to find a fly angler who has spent more time on the Tippecanoe River in his young life. Dustin is also a school teacher who has his summers off and pretty much fishes everyday somewhere. Dustin is a great source for us on the Tippy and you will enjoy a day with him on this great River. The Tippy produces some huge fish and is probably the best chance at a 5 pound river Smallmouth in Indiana.

Mike Baun (Shop Staff):
Mike is a fixture at WCO. He is friendly and knowledgeable and teaches classes on Knot tying and Fly Tying.

About WCO

Our philosophy is simple. When you come into our store or visit our web site you should have a good time. We love what we do and enjoy outfitting you for your days on the water.

Wildcat Creek Outfitters began as a single store in Lafayette Indiana in 1996 and has expanded to a second store in Zionsville Indiana, the Lafayette store has since closed in early 2007. We stock the best of the best that the fly fishing industry has to offer. We also stock one of the largest inventories of Patagonia clothing in the Midwest.

We are, at the core, an Indiana fly shop. Our employees and guides all grew up in this wonderful state and have spent their lives fishing the rivers, ponds and lakes in Western and Central Indiana. Our guides fish and guide on Sugar Creek, the Tippecanoe River and the White River. These are the waters of our childhoods. We spend more time on our local water than anyone and have the most up to date local fishing information available. We eat sleep and drink smallmouth bass, from April 1st until the snow flies it is what we do. If you have never fished Sugar Creek, the Tippy or the White then you have missed a great experience. Go to our local guide section to learn more.

Travel to exotic fly fishing destination is another component of our company, with destinations all over the world. We both host and book travel to Chile, Belize, Bahamas and Mexico to name a few. We are constantly exploring new and cutting edge trips that the travel hungry angler loves. Yes, we love our local water, but destination travel gets us juiced. Go to our travel section to learn more about our trips.

Gear is also a passion for our staff. We love fly tackle and fly tying. This love is reflected in the selection of gear in our store. We stock the best lines, but more than that, we stock accurately for the needs of our clientele. We know what you need and what works and doesn’t work. We spend exhaustive hours field testing new and emerging tackle. A lot of which has not even been introduced to the market. Rods, reels and fly lines should not be tested on customers they should be tested by the people that work at Wildcat Creek Outfitters. We have a unique position in that we know, before a lot of tackle comes out, if it worth your hard earned money or not.

Fly tying for us is the pursuit of a better mouse trap. We are constantly developing new fly patterns and field testing them to assure they work. There are at least 15 series of flies in stock in our store that we developed as signature patterns of Wildcat Creek Outfitters. The love of fly tying is also reflected in our fly tying area of our store. You will be hard pressed to find a wider, more comprehensive selection of fly tying material in the Midwest.
